If you have just installed your Tides Marine shaft seal or just replaced the lip seal and have launched your boat and the seal is leaking this is what can you do. Check to make sure that the Installation Hat has been removed from the front of the shaft seal housing. Make sure the shaft in front of the shaft seal is clean. Loosen the 2 clamps on the front end of the blue hose that goes over the seal housing and rotate left and right. This will make sure that the lip seal is not 'pre-loaded'. Snug down the clamps and check for leaks. Loosen the 2 clamps on the back end of the blue hose that goes over the stern tube (Shaft Log) and rotate the unit left and right. Then move the entire unit forward towards the transmission about 1/2" (12mm) and then pull it back. Snug down the hose clamps and see if this has solved your problem. If it still leaks, there is a chance that your propeller shaft has a blemish, tool mark or pit in the location that the seal rides on. Repeat the above procedure but this time instead of pulling it back to the original location only pull it back about 1/4" (6mm) so the Lip Seal is riding on a different surface.
