Rudder Port/Bearing Types G/H

Rudder Port/Bearing Type G H

Product Overview

Tides Marine RPB TYPES-G/H are used primarily in applications where there is no requirement for sealing the rudder stock. Like the E/F units, they are installed in the rudder tube. TYPE-G units have a flange for registering position while the TYPE-H are flangeless. They may be bonded into the tube from above or below depending on the application.

They are machined from a single piece of UHMW plastic and have fluted self-cleaning grooves which allow constant and unrestricted passage of water. External grooves improve bonding. They are non-corrosive, inert to electrolysis and maintenance free. These units also provide smooth, vibration-free steering performance.

Product Installation

The following is a brief description of the installation procedure for the Tides Marine RPB Types-G/H. Complete installation instructions are included with each unit and should be followed closely.

Installation

  1. Prepare the tube for bonding by wiping the inside clean of any dust or construction debris.
  2. Using a medium-bodied filled epoxy or Chockfast®, coat the outside of the unit.
  3. Insert the unit into the tube. Flangeless models may require temporary support to keep in position until cured.
  4. Install rudder or dummy shaft to insure good bearing alignment until cured.

Before Ordering

Tides makes Type G/H bearings based on the combination of stock diameter "A"(.000 in.) and tube diameter "B" for each rudder application. When placing an order, provide both of these dimensions and specify the model, G (flanged) or H (flangeless). Tides will determine your part number for you.

Note- Diameter "B" must be at least equal to the shaft diameter plus 3/4 of an inch.
